Skills
A NameIO skill is a written workflow for the AI assistant you connect to NameIO. It tells the assistant which NameIO tools to call and in what order, when to ask you before spending credits, and what to hand back. Most skills end by saving a report to your project, so you get a document your team can open, read and print rather than a long chat reply.
There are 12 skills. Each skill's page covers what it needs, the steps it follows, what it costs, what it saves and what its report contains.
AI visibility
- AI Prompt Research: finds the questions people ask about your market, how ChatGPT answered them and which sites the answers cite.
- AI Visibility Audit: reads how AI answers about your market mention and cite your brand, and recommends one to three changes.
Search research and competitors
- Keyword Research: turns seed topics into a prioritized keyword list with metrics and live search results, and saves the terms you approve.
- Keyword Clustering: groups keywords by intent and maps each group to an existing page, a new page or no page.
- Competitor Analysis: examines one competitor's rankings, content themes, backlinks and weak points.
- Competitive Landscape: maps who leads a search market across several competitors, why they lead and where the openings are.
- Link Prospecting: finds link prospects for a page of yours, finds contact paths and drafts outreach for you to send.
- Local SEO: works out why a business does or doesn't show up in Google Maps and the local pack, and what to fix first.
Your site
- SEO Audit: audits your site, checks its real search opportunities and recommends one to three changes, each with the evidence behind it.
Setup, coaching and reports
- SEO Project Setup: interviews you once and stores your site scope, goals, positioning, competitors and key pages in the project's context.
- SEO Coach: explains NameIO workflows, recommends a next step and hands deeper work to the right skill.
- SEO Report: writes and saves the HTML report the other skills deliver, and runs when you ask for a report or name a report template.
How every skill starts
Every skill except SEO Report begins the same way:
- It reads your project's shared context with
get_project_context. This is the same context the app shows on the Context page (AI Tools → Context), and the project-context tools are free. - If a section the skill needs is empty, it asks you, or infers the answer from your site and asks you to confirm, then saves it with
update_project_context. - Research skills reuse research-log results less than 30 days old instead of paying for the same data again.
- When it finishes, it adds a line to the project's research log (SEO Coach and SEO Project Setup do this only when they spent credits).
Where results go
Nine skills save their result as a report in your project, through SEO Report: AI Prompt Research, AI Visibility Audit, Competitive Landscape, Competitor Analysis, Keyword Clustering, Keyword Research, Link Prospecting, Local SEO and SEO Audit.
- Reports are listed on the project's Reports page (AI Tools → Reports). The Type column shows the report template's name if one was used, otherwise the skill, for example seo-audit.
- New reports are private. Your assistant makes one public only when you ask it to.
- In chat, the assistant replies with up to three short bullets and a link to the full report.
- Each report's "How this report was made" section links to the skill's page in these docs.
SEO Project Setup and SEO Coach work in chat and save no report.
What you need
- A NameIO account and an assistant connected to the NameIO MCP server at https://app.getnameio.com/mcp. The Agent setup page at https://app.getnameio.com/ai has a setup prompt to paste into your assistant, and the MCP guide covers each client.
- The Make changes switch on for that connection, for any skill that saves context, keywords, trackers, audits or reports. It appears on the consent page when you connect and is on by default. A read-only connection doesn't see those tools. To change one, disconnect it under Settings → Connected apps (https://app.getnameio.com/settings) and connect again with Make changes on. A connection made with an API key always includes changes.
Credits and plans
- Lookups use your organization's credits. 1,000 credits cost $1.
- Project context, saved keywords, Search Console reads, reading site audit results and the report tools use no credits.
- The MCP server tells your assistant to confirm with you before a planned batch of more than 2,000 credits. Your assistant can't buy credits or charge your card through NameIO.
- Prompt Research, Prompt Explorer, scheduled AI visibility checks and tracking Gemini, Google AI Overviews or Perplexity need the Pro plan: $54 a month or $499 a year, plus applicable tax, each with $15 of usage credits a month.
- On the free plan, calls paid from the plan's included credits share a daily data budget of $0.25 of NameIO's data cost per organization (about 320 credits) each UTC day, within a daily pool shared by all free organizations. When the cap is reached, calls use your top-up credits if you have them; otherwise they fail with "The free plan's daily data budget is used up. It resets at 00:00 UTC; upgrade or buy top-up credits for more."

What's not done
NameIO doesn't offer a way to install the skills yet. There's no plugin, marketplace listing or download, and the MCP connection carries NameIO's tools, not the skills.
