AI Prompt Research

AI Prompt Research finds the questions people ask about your market, how ChatGPT answered them and which sites the answers cite. You get a report that groups the questions by intent, shows where your brand is mentioned or cited and where it's missing, and recommends 10 to 20 prompts worth tracking.

It is research only. It never saves prompts to tracking or starts answer collection. You decide what to track, in the app.

Before you start

Where the data comes from

The questions come mostly from Google "People also ask" data in DataForSEO's dataset, not from logged ChatGPT prompts. Nobody can see how often a question is asked in ChatGPT, so the report never attaches a demand number to a prompt.

ChatGPT's answers and the sites they cite are also recorded in DataForSEO's dataset. NameIO doesn't collect them live, so they can differ from what ChatGPT says today.

What it does

  1. Builds 5 to 15 candidate head terms of one to three words and keeps the 2 to 4 that fit best. It takes terms from your project context, saved keywords and Search Console queries before inventing new ones.
  2. Runs Prompt Research once per term, usually for two or three terms. Each call returns up to about 100 prompts. If a term returns nothing, it retries once with a broader term. If your market isn't US English, it warns you before spending.
  3. Merges duplicates across calls and groups the prompts by intent: Learning, Choosing, Doing, and Branded, which it keeps separate. It drops prompts outside your market and counts cited domains by registrable domain.
  4. Finds openings: large groups where your brand is rarely mentioned or cited. For the leading two or three, it names representative prompts, the cited domains and their source types. It may spot-check a prompt with Prompt Explorer.
  5. Recommends 10 to 20 neutral prompts to track.

What it costs

Research uses usage credits.

What it saves

Only your project context (the Business overview if it was empty, plus a research-log line) and the report. It doesn't save prompts.

The report

The report is titled like "AI Prompt Research — Oct 2, 2026" and has five sections:

  1. What people ask about your market: three bullets.
  2. Openings.
  3. All prompt groups: a table with the group, an example prompt, the number of prompts, how many cite your site, how many mention your brand, and the most-cited domains.
  4. Prompts worth tracking: 10 to 20 exact prompts.
  5. How this report was made, with a link to this page.

In chat, the assistant leads with one line you can share, then the link to the report. If the SEO Report skill isn't available, this skill returns the content in chat instead.

Track the prompts you choose

  1. In your project, open AI Visibility → Prompt Research. The page needs a prompt tracker first. Without one, it shows "Prompt research starts with a tracker" and a Set up prompt tracking button.
  2. Search for the keyword the assistant researched, or open it under Relevant keywords if it's listed there. Opening or searching a keyword uses about $0.25 in credits unless it was researched in the last 24 hours.
  3. Select the prompt rows you want to track. Prompts you already track show Tracked and can't be selected.
  4. Click Track prompts.
  5. In Review tracking change, check the topic and the prompts.
  6. Click Save change.

See AI visibility for how tracking works.
