Keyword Clustering

Keyword Clustering groups keywords by search intent and decides which page should target each group: an existing page, a new page, or none. It's keyword mapping, not only grouping similar terms. You get a map of clusters to pages, short briefs for the pages, and any cannibalization the data shows.

Before you start

What it does

  1. Gathers keywords from Search Console (queries with the pages they land on), get_ranked_keywords, your saved keywords, research_keywords and local tools, as the brief needs.
  2. Removes noise.
  3. Clusters the keywords by the intent of their search results and the type of page those results reward.
  4. Checks borderline terms with a small batch of live Google results.
  5. Assigns each cluster to an existing URL, a new page, or do-not-target.
  6. Flags cannibalization.
  7. Asks you before tagging keywords with save_keywords.

What it costs

What it saves

The report

Sections:

  1. The map.
  2. Clusters: a table of cluster, primary keyword, intent, target page and priority.
  3. Page briefs.
  4. Cannibalization, only when there is real evidence.
  5. What to do next.
  6. How this report was made, with a link to this page.

With fewer than 10 usable terms, you get a simple map. When no URL data was supplied, target pages are labelled as proposed.

Tools it uses

get_search_console_performance, get_ranked_keywords, list_saved_keywords, research_keywords, get_serp_results, save_keywords and local tools when relevant, plus update_project_context and save_report through SEO Report.
