Competitor Analysis

Competitor Analysis examines one named competitor's organic search footprint: the keywords it ranks for, its content themes, its backlinks, and the gaps between you. You get a report that ends in an action plan.

To find the market leaders first, use Competitive Landscape.

Before you start

What it does

  1. Runs get_domain_overview for the competitor, and for your site when comparing. If Search Console is connected, it uses your Search Console data as the first-party baseline.
  2. Pulls the competitor's ranking keywords with get_ranked_keywords, using filters such as maximum rank, minimum search volume, excluding brand terms, and result types.
  3. Adds local tools when location matters.
  4. Uses find_serp_competitors when the overlap between you is unclear.
  5. Groups the keywords into themes.
  6. Pulls backlinks with get_backlinks_overview.
  7. Checks live Google results with get_serp_results on terms you share.
  8. Writes an action plan.
